Principal In-Charge, RCCIIT & Professor, ECE, RCCIIT

I feel a deep sense of pride in being associated with the Institute, both as a faculty member and as Principal In-Charge. With over two decades of experience in imparting technical education, the Institute has witnessed remarkable growth in scale and stature - expanding significantly in infrastructure, student strength, faculty resources, and institutional activities. Academic processes and outcomes have become increasingly structured and consistent, while the Institute’s reputation has extended far and wide through outreach initiatives, strategic collaborations, and the strong presence of alumni across organizations in India and abroad. The recent conferment of Autonomous Status by UGC has further strengthened its academic standing, complementing its already established credentials, including NBA accreditation of four undergraduate engineering programs and NAAC accreditation with a commendable score of 2.94 in the first cycle.

While academic discipline remains essential for students to achieve consistent semester performance, it is equally important for them to explore and master contemporary technologies beyond the prescribed syllabus. Students must actively acquire knowledge, skills, and certifications in emerging domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Cyber Security, Data Science, Cloud Computing, VLSI, and renewable/clean energy technologies through projects, internships, and certification programs. These initiatives are crucial for making them industry-ready and professionally competitive. Equally important is their engagement with the professional ecosystem by connecting with industry communities through platforms such as LinkedIn and effectively presenting their professional portfolios.

RCCIIT has established a strategic collaboration with Intel, under which the Intel® AI for Future Workforce Program is implemented for students of all years and disciplines. With financial support from the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), Government of India, and technical support from Intel, state-of-the-art AI Skills Labs and Innovation Labs have been developed to provide training from foundational to advanced levels in Artificial Intelligence. Additional collaborative initiatives include training and internships in Cyber Security through the Indian School of Ethical Hacking (ISOEH), and programs in AI, Generative AI, Power BI, and Data Analytics through SETU Business School. Skill certification opportunities are also offered through platforms such as NASSCOM Future Skill Prime and Infosys Springboard.

With a focused approach toward preparing pre-final and final-year students for upcoming placement drives, strong emphasis is placed on the development of technical competencies, coding proficiency, soft skills, and aptitude. Basic-level training is provided to all students, while advanced-level training is organized for selected R-200 and R-100 student groups. The placement team continues to work proactively in creating new recruitment partnerships across both core and IT sectors. Notably, first-time hiring for the 2025 passing-out batch from RCCIIT (and in West Bengal) has been achieved through exclusive drives by companies such as Sundaram Fasteners (TVSE), NASH, Motherson, Vikram Solar, ADVI Group, and Collabera. Deloitte has also been added for the 2026 passing-out batch, with several other major multinational corporations currently in the recruitment pipeline.

A strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurship is steadily taking shape among students, as reflected in their active participation in national and institutional technical competitions and hackathons, including the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the Smart Bengal Hackathon (SBH) organized by RCCIIT. A start-up incubation facility and a comprehensive start-up policy have been developed by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), creating a strong foundation for nurturing future entrepreneurs and home-grown start-ups. The Institute’s research culture is also steadily strengthening, with an increasing number of patents and copyrights published and granted to faculty members each year. Students are actively contributing to this research ecosystem through joint publications with faculty. Out of a total faculty strength of over 115+ across departments, more than 60% now hold PhD degrees. Empowered by academic autonomy, the R&D Cell is actively working toward the introduction of a PhD program, which will enable RCCIIT faculty to directly register and guide doctoral scholars within the Institute.

Some of the Institute’s notable good practices include structured mentoring of individual students by faculty Mentors, academic guidance for aspiring students seeking admission to M.Tech, MS, MBA, and MCA programs in India and abroad through the Centre for Higher Studies (CHS), and professional counselling and mental health support for students experiencing anxiety, stress, or emotional challenges through the newly established Wellness Centre. Students are also recognized and rewarded through the annual award ceremony “Prasasti” for year-wise academic excellence, outstanding achievements, best overall performance (outgoing batch), and best library usage, thereby fostering a culture of motivation and excellence.

Numerous social outreach initiatives are carried out through the NSS Unit, the Connect-to-School (C2S) program, and various other training programs conducted for school and college students under government-sponsored projects. These activities reflect the Institute’s strong commitment to social responsibility and community development.

RCCIIT continues to uphold its unique identity as an “Institute with Values” and consistently strives for the holistic development of its students. The Institute actively nurtures talents in art, culture, sports, and creativity, encouraging participation from the very first year. Inter-college competitions across these domains are sponsored annually to promote student engagement and excellence beyond academics. The Institute firmly believes that a balanced integration of human values, technical competence, and professional attitude is essential for true success in life. RCCIIT remains fully committed to providing the right environment, guidance, and grooming necessary to help every student realize their aspirations and achieve their fullest potential.
